Shane Vermillion Professional Bio
I recently graduated from Columbus State Community College (December 2025, 3.44 GPA) with a passion for building robust, scalable applications. I enjoy tackling technical challenges and building systems that scale and solve real problems.
My capstone project—a blockchain-inspired Grain Title Tracking System—demonstrates my ability to architect full-stack serverless applications. The system uses 18 AWS Lambda functions, DynamoDB, API Gateway, and Cognito authentication to create tamper-proof ownership records using SHA-256 cryptographic hashing.
I'm currently pursuing AWS Certified Developer Associate certification and actively seeking opportunities in software development.
Before transitioning to software development, I built a diverse technical foundation. As a student employee at The Ohio State University's Physics Computing Facility, I supported Linux, Mac, and Windows environments. At Columbus State Community College, I served as an instructional designer where I implemented ASP-based automation projects that integrated with backend databases, significantly reducing manual workload and improving data accuracy. I also served as a key integration team member during the transition from an in-house hosted distance learning system to a hosted LMS.
I also spent time in media production as a broadcast agency production manager, managing multiple projects against tight deadlines, and in construction and safety management after earning my bachelor's degree from The Ohio State University (2011).
Additionally, I bring 25 years of U.S. Army experience, where I served in various roles from Infantry to Drill Sergeant to Corps of Engineers. This background gave me strong leadership abilities, exceptional attention to detail, and the capacity to perform under pressure.
